Most of them didn’t make any sacrifice, and that is why they don’t feel any pain in the way things are going on in this country. “Those who made the sacrifices were left with nothing, and that is why the over 160 million Nigerians are under captivity. “One would have expected that with the collective efforts of Nigerians to bring about a new ruling party; to ensure th...

Why offside, yellow card should be scrapped from football - FIFA Chief

Image
FIFA Technical Director, Marco van Basten, has called for offside calls and yellow cards to be abolished. Van Basten is advocating for sin-bins to be introduced into football in future. The former Holland international was employed by FIFA in September 2015 to handle all technical areas from technology to refereeing. And some of his long-term plans for the game is to scrap some of its most established rules. “We must keep looking for ways to improve the game,” Van Basten said in an interview with Sport Bild. “To make it more honest, more dynamic, more interesting, so that what we offer is attractive enough. “There are lots of variations which need to be tested in the coming years.” Van Basten said scrapping the offside rule, would mean an end to matches which “resemble handball where nine players, plus the goalkeeper, pack the penalty area and [the defence] is like a wall”. He also argued that sin-binning players, would prove a greater deterrent than showing yellow cards. “That would...

Botswana No Longer Recognizes Yahya Jammeh as President of Gambia - STATEMENT

Image
Botswana is no longer recognizing Yahya Jammeh as President of Gambia following the legal expiration of his tenure today. See statement by Botswana Government: Following Mr. Yahya Jammeh’s refusal to hand over power to the President-elect Adama Barrow, in accordance with the expressed will of the Gambian people, the Government of Botswana announces that it will no longer recognise Mr. Jammeh as the President of Gambia, together with his Government. This decision which takes effect immediately is consistent with Botswana’s position as articulated through the Press Release of 16th December 2016. Mr. Jammeh’s decision not to respect the will of the Gambian people undermines the ongoing efforts to consolidate democracy and good governance in The Gambia and Africa as a whole. This is also in direct contravention of the spirit and aspirations of the African Union Constitutive Act. The Government of Botswana therefore continues to appeal to the international community to do all within its p...

What Can Happen When You Have An Abortion

Image
An abortion is the medical process of ending a pregnancy so it doesn't result in the birth of a baby. It's also sometimes known as a termination. The pregnancy is ended either by taking medications or having a minor surgical procedure. But, not only does every abortion kill an innocent human being in the womb; but abortion is also more dangerous to the mother than if she were to give birth to the child. Below are some of the risks/complications of having an abortion. 1. Pelvic Infection: Germs (bacteria) from the vagina or cervix may enter the uterus during the abortion and cause an infection in the pelvic region. Antibiotics can treat infections but, in rare cases, a repeat suction abortion, hospitalization and/or surgery may be required. 2. Incomplete abortion risks: An incomplete abortion outlines that part of the fetus, or other products of pregnancy (placenta), may not drain completely from the uterus, requiring further medical procedures. This may result in infection an...

Osinbajo - We Cannot Allow the Naira to Float

Osinbajo made the remark while speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland on Wednesday. Now, that policy, that is the point I have been making all along, that stabilising that policy, ensuring that it works fully, is really what we are trying to get to, in our interactions with the central bank, which of course is independent. “We are trying to get them to see that you need to implement this policy fully. Central bank of course has its own constraints; we have to be careful. “We simply can’t allow the currency to float; we have to look at all of the market cond...
